Meet Byrd:
Meet Byrd Abbott, an Associate Broker with Montague Miller & Company Realtors. In addition to being a RealtorŪ since 1982 with over $230,000,000 in sales and listings sold, Byrd Abbott is a corporate wife who has made many cities "home"; she understands both sides of buying and selling homes, finding schools, churches, new friends, and becoming a part of a new community. Byrd holds the respected ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative), GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist) designations, and she is a licensed Broker in Virginia and North Carolina. Byrd received the Top Producer Award 2003-2008, the 2003, 2005, & 2007 Professional Realtor Award and has served on the Montague Miller & Co. Advisory Council.
Byrd received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Mary Baldwin College and has studied at Seattle Pacific University. While at Mary Baldwin, she was an Honors student, was active in many leadership capacities including serving on the Judiciary Board, and was a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship nominee. Prior to her real estate career, she taught English, modeled, and worked in the field of financial market research.
Byrd has been active in the volunteer sector and with the arts, serving on numerous Boards of Directors including those associated with the Southeastern Gallery of Contemporary Art; the Winston-Salem Symphony Guild; the Washington State Crime and Justice Council; and the Junior Leagues of Charlottesville, Seattle, Charlotte, Rumson, and Morristown. More recently, she has served as a member of the Mary Baldwin College Alumni Board of Trustees and as Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Matheny School and Hospital Guild in New Jersey and on the Kinder-Mourn Board of Directors in Charlotte. Byrd has also been affiliated with the Charlotte Mint Museum. Byrd is currently on the Board of Read Aloud Virginia (RAV), is active in an Interdenominational Bible Study, and a member of the Charlottesville Garden Club.
Byrd's high level of performance is reflected by her dedication to the profession and her natural gifts for working with people. She says, "It is essential to listen deeply to what people are saying about their lives, problems, and their aspirations. Every situation can be brought to a satisfying conclusion, but it takes empathy, flexibility, and persistence."
Byrd enjoys traveling, cooking, finance, and flower arranging. Other joys include skiing, tennis, and studying and lecturing on antiques, collectible oriental porcelain, and Flo Blue.
Byrd is married with two grown sons and is a proud grandmother.
